We had boarded the Island Escape on Friday evening in Santa Cruz Tenerife and then we sailed off for the night cruising to Las Palmas Gran Canary. Recalling our disapointment during 4 hours of cold, wet and windy whale hunting off Iceland, we had decided to book the 'Catamaran Sailing and Dolphin Watch' excursion. 'Gran Canary's coast is packed with these playful creatures', the travel documents said.
Disaster! The catamaran soon rocked so much that it was impossible to continue videoing. I was drenched up to the waste by sea washing over the deck, an adjcent passenger's camera was drenched - and Wendy with several others was sick three times. Half our cost was returned the following day!!
Our ship provided a welcome return after the return drive (half way round the island) and we were happy just to take a gentle stroll around local Las Palmas before the ship sailed for the next island.
